You’re Not Alone

A note from our founder

If you’re a parent who just received an autism diagnosis for your child – everything can feel scary, overwhelming, and hard.

Before we dive into the logistics of getting the best support in place for your child, I want to acknowledge that this isn’t easy. There are so many emotions that receiving a diagnosis brings up.

I’ve been where you are. My oldest son was diagnosed with autism at age 2, and even though I expected the diagnosis, officially hearing it was one of the hardest days of my life.

Here’s the one thing I want you to know – an autism diagnosis doesn’t change who your child is. It’s simply part of what makes them beautifully unique.

Yes, we’re going to work really hard to help your child make progress and meet milestones, but at the end of the day, they are still the same kid you love with all of your heart. And through years of doing this work, we’ve learned that every single child who steps through our doors has something incredible to contribute to the world… and that’s worth celebrating.

I have the best clinicians on our team, and I’m constantly amazed at what they help our clients learn and do. They love your children and are passionate about supporting them as they grow and move forward. You’re going to love them, too!

This can be hard. But we can do hard things. And the entire team here at Stepping Stones is here to help.

With love,

Monica

We’re here to help you through the entire process, from initial assessment through a customized ABA plan to the start of services.

STEP ONE:

We start with your information

Give us a call, email us, or contact us through the website to set up an initial phone call or meeting. We’ll also need a copy of your comprehensive diagnostic evaluation from an MD or Ph.D. with an official diagnosis. If you are just starting the diagnostic process, we can provide a list of diagnosticians in the DFW area. We can also discuss the diagnosis process with you in more detail.

STEP TWO:

We confirm with your insurance provider

We’ll call your insurance company to confirm your child’s eligibility and benefits coverage. If you’re choosing to pay out of pocket, we’ll skip this step.

STEP THREE:

We get everything approved

We’ll submit an authorization request to your insurance for the initial assessment, and when it’s approved, we’ll move on to Step 4.

STEP FOUR:

We complete the initial assessment

Once your insurance is approved, we’ll schedule your initial assessment in our center. (Assessments are not performed in-home.) Your BCBA will put together a treatment plan with the hours we suggest and the goals we’ll be working toward.

We’ll review the treatment plan with you to make sure everyone agrees with the number of hours and goals we’ve selected. Your feedback is an important part of the process!

Once everything is complete, we’ll submit documents to insurance.

STEP FIVE:

We begin services

We will set a start date to begin working with your child! The ABA therapy sessions will help them progress toward their individual, unique goals – and they’ll have some fun along the way!

Accepted Insurance Providers

We currently accept the following insurance plans:

  • Aetna

  • BlueCross/BlueShield

  • United/Optum

We’ll work with you to make sure you understand the benefits and coverage your plan provides.

If your insurance provider is not currently accepted, we do accept private-pay and out-of-network.
